Sunset Session at Mahoney State Park | Whidbey Island Family Photographer

The girls and I try to head home for a few weeks every summer while daddy is working. We get to play in the hot Nebraska sun, run through sprinklers with cousins, and catch up with old friends.

I'm lucky that one of my oldest and dearest friends Carrie is also in Omaha, and make sure to carve out time to grab lunch and catch up whenever possible. We met a million years ago as freshman at the University of Kansas, where we roomed together both in the dorms and in our sorority. Carrie has always been one of my favorite people. And now that her gorgeous son Connor joined the world, there's even more reason to get together - baby snuggles! At just three months old, Connor's cheeks are as big as his smile. Seriously - he is like the world's happiest, sweetest, most lovable baby.

I couldn't be happier for Carrie and Mike. They absolutely adore their new son, and wanted to capture some pictures while I was in town and before Connor grew out of the baby phase (you gotta document those cheeks!). We had such an amazing night at Mahoney State Park, although it was a bit warm and sticky. Woo! I miss my family and friends, but I do NOT miss that Midwest heat!

I love the way this family's sunset session came together, and I can't wait to show my beautiful friend every one of her images. I know we'll be in each other's lives for a looooong time, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for this little man. He already hit the jackpot with his mama.
