The Perfect PNW Family Session | Whidbey Island, WA Family Photographer
This happens to be the time of year in Washington when spring arrives. At least in theory. There are signs, sprouting up. The pink blossoms of a dormant tree. The daffodils accumulating in yards throughout town. And every once in a while, you see it. The sun!
We are starting to get about one gorgeous day per week, and I'll take it. I'd take more of them (if you're asking) but I'm trying not to be greedy. This particular sunny day was really the perfect PNW day. A long, sunny day, a slight breeze, and a gorgeous view of both land and sea. And I got to spend it with one of the most lovely families I've met to date.
I've been waiting to work with this family for months, and was so excited to capture the quintessential PNW backdrop for them (as well as a lot of hugs, snuggles, dancing and loving on each other). You see, the Thornton family is about to move away from Washington. And it's a bit of a move as well, as they'll be relocating to their original home of Australia. (I know, right?! Take me with you!!)
We had a great time playing, laughing, and singing several versions of "Twinkle, Twinkle." Kate and Steven are loving, gentle parents, and I had to give Kate a big high-five when I learned that her kiddos are even closer in age than mine. And what sweet kiddos they are! Big brother danced and gently hugged his little sis, when he wasn't busy throwing ALL the rocks into the ocean (after we named them, of course).
Family sessions have my heart, 100%. Maybe it's because I see so much of myself in each mama - wanting to document her family and hold on to these memories. Wanting to remember how little they were and how loved they were. This is my dream job, and this session was pretty close to a dream in my book.
